Monograph Explains the Why, What, When and How of Data Reporting

Angela Smith, PhD, MPH, and CHES, is the Special Programs Director for Jefferson Comprehensive Care System Inc. (JCCSI), a non-profit Community Health Center in Arkansas. Her responsibilities include overseeing the services for Ryan White Part C, Part D, Part F and SAMSHA programs.
To help the newest staff members and volunteers understand the HRSA/HAB data reporting requirements, including RSR and RDR, Dr. Smith turned to the TARGET Center web site. A quick search for the word "monograph" in the TARGET Center web's site online library brought Dr. Smith to Using Data to Measure Public Health Performance. Published by HRSA/HAB in 2010, the document explains the why, what, when and how of data reporting for Ryan White grantees.
"This is an excellent document for the staff to see the connections of all the Parts, their responsibilities for data collection and reporting, and the expectations of grantees in submitting reports," Dr. Smith commented.
Even an experienced grantee will find the document helpful. "The monograph was useful for me because it ties directly to outcomes, performance, monitoring, and other program requirements towards funding," Dr. Smith said. She noted that JCCS will be adding the monograph to the appendix of the division's protocol manual.
Just as Dr. Smith did, grantees can go to the TARGET Center web site at any time to find free technical assistance products for their own personal education and their program needs.
