Funding Opportunity: HRSA Health Center New Access Points

Friday, July 11, 2014

HRSAHHS has announced the availability of $100 million in grant funds to support an estimated 150 HRSA "New Access Point" Health Centers. Applications are due August 20.

Health Centers, the backbone of primary care for underserved populations since their establishment in the 1960s, have undergone significant expansion over the past 15+ years under initiatives by President George W. Bush and, more recently, the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Today, over 21 million people receive health care from 1,300 Health Centers across the country.

A good number of Ryan White grantees have achieved Health Center status in order to diversify funding, build third party reimbursement capacity including access to enhanced Medicaid reimbursement rates, access medical malpractice coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act, and--most notably--to integrate HIV/AIDS care within broader health care as part of the national strategy to more effectively reach lower income minority populations disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS.
