In most states, today, December 15, is the final day of Open Enrollment!

Make sure your clients know the deadline in your state:

  • In states using HealthCare.gov: Clients have until December 15 to enroll.
  • Some states that do not use HealthCare.gov have extended 2018 Open Enrollment: This includes CA, CO, CT, DC, MA, MD, MN, NY, RI, and WA.
  • Though ID and VT do not use HealthCare.gov, Open Enrollment still ends December 15 in these states.

Make sure your clients know how to get one-on-one enrollment support. Use the ACE TA Center Twitter Toolkit for Marketplace Open Enrollment to help get the word out.

Encourage active plan renewals!

Clients should take the time to compare available plans instead of getting auto-enrolled.

  • If a client does not log in and actively choose a plan, they will be automatically re-enrolled in their current plan on the last day of Open Enrollment. They will be unable to change their plan once this happens.
  • If a client’s plan is no longer available this year, they will be auto-enrolled into a different plan with a similar premium amount.

Plan details can change, and so can people’s health needs. Clients should actively compare plans to avoid getting auto-enrolled into a plan that may not be the best option for their health needs.

Keep up the good work enrolling your clients in 2018 health coverage!
