Oklahoma has been classified by the Department of Health and Human Services as one of the seven states with a high rural HIV burden. Test-and-treat protocols are feasible within high-volume HIV clinics which serve rural and underserved communities to minimize the time to the first appointment to decrease time to viral load suppression.

Substance abuse, interpersonal violence, depression, and HIV are part of overlapping and intersecting epidemics which adversely affect the prognosis and intensify the burden of each. This workshop will highlight the AIDS Education Training Centers' (AETC) Core Training activities from 2016 through 2019, focusing on types of providers reached, priority training topics, and training modalities. Two AETCs will share experiences engaging rural jurisdictions with low-volume HIV providers and approaches for reaching providers in the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative jurisdictions.

This session highlights specific HRSA and CDC resources used to reduce HIV-related stigma in rural areas and a recipient's best practices to reduce stigma in the healthcare setting to improve clients' health outcomes and quality of life.
