Description
People with HIV of low socioeconomic status may be at increased risk for food insecurity. This session will explore how to identify and address food insecurity in an HIV primary care setting. Current food assistance programs and related educational classes will be discussed, as well as relevant outcomes to HIV care.
Learning Objectives
- Understand ways to identify and address food insecurity in the HIV community.
- Acknowledge the positive impact food assistance programs may have on retention in care for people with HIV.
- Educate people with HIV and their providers on ways to stretch food dollars and food resources more effectively.
